Quality Assurance Technician

STRICTLY NO RECRUITMENT AGENCY CONTACT REQUIRED

Newthorpe, Nottingham, NG16 3PX

You must be eligible to work in the UK.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week:
Between 06.30am – 16.30pm (although this may vary with demands of the role)
Working Days: Monday – Friday
Salary - £26,500 per year
Site Based - Full Time - Permanent

As a Quality Assurance Technician for GCL Food Ingredients based in Newthorpe, you’ll be joining an industry leader and performing various duties within our ever-growing production facility.

Established in 1964, GCL Food Ingredients is a manufacturer and supplier to both foodservice and industrial customers. We aim to work closely with both our customers and suppliers to create a food chain partnership. This brings together all NPD teams to work not only on innovation and market trends but to help inspire the next generation of meals to our client’s consumers.

The role:
The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for supporting both the Technical and Production teams ensuring all quality requirements are adhered to and maintained.

Main Duties will involve but not limited to:

Work closely with the Production Team to identify and resolve any quality issues that arise during manufacturing.
Complete routine inspections i.e. glass and hard plastic, fabrication, hygiene, foreign body and GMP are carried out to schedule, with the appropriate corrective action implemented.
Support BRC audits & Customer Technical audits. Ensuring the department is audit ready at all times.
Coordinate the regular testing of products to address faults.
Investigate customer complaints through detailed root cause analysis and report findings.
To conduct quality inspections of the raw materials, finished products, trial samples, reference samples, end of life products across all lines.
To collect samples of raw materials, finished products, environmental and nutritional samples as well as pre-set schedules as and when required.
Carrying out the CCP, allergen & species validation studies at the required frequency.
Carry out equipment validation.
Develop and update procedures, work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to align with quality requirements.
Provide CoC and CoA when required
Conduct labels and product, packaging and process specification verification to ensure quality and legality compliance.
Support Pest Contractor on site.
Promote excellent communications between departments.
Drive a culture of change.
Undertake any other reasonable request from the Technical Manager or the Management Team.

Skills/Knowledge

Experience in a similar role is desired.
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced food production environment.
Good working knowledge of food production associated processes and capabilities
Health, Safety, Food Hygiene & Environment Awareness Knowledge
High attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met
Knowledge of appropriate production processes
Computer Literacy in Microsoft office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc

Qualifications:

Advanced Level HACCP
Advanced Food Hygiene.
Previous experience of working in food manufacturing is desired.
Reporting and analytical skills.
