Full job description

Golden Crown Care and Support is recruiting experienced and passionate Support Workers to join our new Ofsted-registered supported accommodation service for young people aged 16–17 in the London Borough of Havering.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated and child-centred team supporting young people to develop independence, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes within a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.

We are looking for motivated individuals who are committed to safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and empowering care-experienced young people to reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young people with their day-to-day lives, emotional wellbeing, and independence skills. You will build positive relationships, act as a consistent role model, and help young people engage in education, employment, training, and community activities.

You will work in line with Ofsted-supported accommodation standards, safeguarding procedures, and each young person’s individual support plan and pathway plan.

Key Responsibilities

Providing high-quality, person-centred support to young people aged 16–17
Supporting young people to develop practical independence skills including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, travel training, and tenancy readiness
Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
Promoting education, employment, and training opportunities
Supporting young people with emotional wellbeing and positive routines
Maintaining accurate daily records, incident reports, and key work documentation
Working in partnership with social workers, personal advisers, education providers, and external agencies
Safeguarding young people and responding appropriately to risks including exploitation, missing episodes, substance misuse, and emotional distress
Participating in key work sessions, team meetings, and training

Essential Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience working with young people in supported accommodation, residential care, leaving care, youth work, supported living, or similar settings
Good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted standards
Experience supporting vulnerable or at-risk young people
Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
Strong communication and report-writing skills
Flexible approach to shift work, including evenings and weekends
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or equivalent
Training in safeguarding, trauma-informed care, mental health, or behaviour management
