The Estates team are responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of circa 480 sites around the UK to meet the requirements of HM Coastguard for Rescue Coordination Centres, Coastguard Rescue Centres and radio sites, UK Maritime Services Marine Offices and other key functions of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) such as the Agency Headquarters.

The Project Manager will provide professional and operational, cost, contract and project management services for delivering building, refurbishment and fit out project works of either a capital or revenue nature to meet the priorities of the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include, but arent limited to:
1. Implement, manage and deliver a series of building, refurbishment and fit out works in accordance with best practice and business case objectives ensuring they meet appropriate time, cost, quality, environmental and health and safety parameters.
2. Manage where necessary/appropriate external consultants, building surveyors, engineers to support project works as required.
3. Prepare and submit business cases for individual projects together with specifications, scopes of work, project briefs to enable works to be tendered and undertaken.
4. Procure contractors/consultants in accordance with the Agencys policies and procedures but in such a way to ensure the activities are planned to ensure best value for money is achieved.
5. Work with Procurement and the Agencys external legal advisors where required to develop appropriate forms of contract for each project based on the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and New Engineering Contract (NEC) guidelines.

Essential qualifications/licenses:
A full UK driving license
A recognized qualification in a relevant property related discipline with membership of a professional body such as APM, RICS or equivalent relevant experience.
You will be required to provide evidence that you hold any essential licenses at some point during the recruitment process. If you cannot provide evidence, your application will be withdrawn.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
1. Knowledge and experience of managing projects within the construction industry and of fit out/refurbishment works.
2. Demonstrable evidence of successfully delivering a range of new building works, refurbishment and fit out projects on time, within budget and within the quality requirements.
3. Understanding of Health & Safety at Work Act, compliance requirements, building legislation, Construction & Design Management (CDM), Building Regulations and best practice
Additional Information
This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work, however this may be extended or made permanent.
Permanent Civil Servants will be appointed on an inward loan and subject to the terms of the agreed inward loan. You must have your home departments approval to return to them at the end of the loan before you apply. Internal candidates will return to their previous post at the end of the loan period, which will need to be agreed with your line manager in advance. If your home department cannot agree to release you on loan, there is the opportunity for you to move across to the department on a fixed term appointment. Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of th e locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. Ther e may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
Regular travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
