Role Purpose
To assist the heating and renewable energy installation teams while undertaking a Domestic Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship at college. The role is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience alongside formal training, enabling the apprentice to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Heating Engineer within the renewable energy sector.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of domestic and commercial projects including heating systems, hot water systems, air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, and associated plumbing works. Full training and support will be provided throughout the apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete the Domestic Plumbing and Heating apprenticeship course at college
- Assist engineers with the installation of heating and plumbing systems
- Support the installation and commissioning of renewable heating technologies including air source heat pumps
- Assist with first and second fix plumbing works
- Assist with installation of radiators, cylinders, pipework, valves, and heating controls
- Learn how to safely use hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment
- Maintain clean and tidy work areas on-site
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as required
- Assist with fault finding, servicing, and maintenance works under supervision
- Support engineers with paperwork, commissioning records, and job documentation
- Learn and work in accordance with industry standards, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures
- Represent the company professionally when working in customers’ homes and commercial premises
- Work collaboratively with engineers, electricians, surveyors, and office staff
- Develop technical knowledge and practical skills within the plumbing, heating, and renewable energy industries

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office desirable, but not essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English required
- Full UK driving licence desirable, but not essential
