Location: Belle Livingstone’s 58th Street Country Club – Peckham, London

Hours: Full-time (48 hours per week), including evenings, weekends, and late finishes

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

Belle Livingstone’s 58th Street Country Club brings together live music, performance, food, drink, and immersive hospitality under one roof.

As Duty Manager, you are the senior operational leader and "Responsible Person" on shift in the General Manager's absence. You hold overall responsibility for venue safety, legal compliance, financial controls, and seamless operational delivery. Working closely with Bar, Kitchen, Production & Marketing departments you will lead the Guest Experience Team (GX) to maintain operational integrity, uphold the standards of our immersive world, and deliver an exceptional guest experience in a dynamic live-arts environment. You are the go to person for all emergency and safety decisions, as such you must remain calm and decisive under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Venue Operations & Building Management

Lead day-to-day operations and act as the senior point of contact during public opening hours, performances, and private hires.
Manage full venue opening and closing procedures, ensuring the site is clear, checked, and locked securely at the end of the night.
Complete required opening, fire, security, and building safety checks, including maintaining clear escape routes, verifying alarm systems, and following estate waste-disposal guidelines.
Oversee site presentation to ensure all public areas are clean, dressed, stocked, and fully show-ready prior to opening doors.
Identify hazards and coordinate building maintenance with the General Manager and Facilities Manager.

Health, Safety, Compliance & Security

Serve as the designated responsible person for Health & Safety on shift, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, food safety, safeguarding, and licensing conditions.
Maintain a working knowledge of venue risk assessments, emergency plans, and Standard Operating Procedures; exercise authority to delay openings, pause activities, or escalate safety concerns when necessary.
Lead security briefings and collaborate directly with third-party SIA contractors to manage audience welfare, crowd flow, and disruptive behavior.
Coordinate incident responses, administer/manage medical or emergency situations, and log accurate accident, incident, and near-miss reports.
Lead security and safety briefings, and support external compliance audits or inspections.

Guest Experience & Immersive Delivery

Lead, coach, and support the Guest Experience Team (GXT), running pre-service briefings to establish operational plans and customer service standards.
Act as custodian of the Immersive World, ensuring all front-of-house delivery—including staff attire, in-world character/accents, ephemera, and the core "4 Pillars"—is consistently maintained.
Manage guest arrivals, check-ins, VIP visits, latecomer entry protocols, and accessibility needs.
Serve as the operational safeguard for dietary and allergen processes, ensuring bespoke guest needs are accurately recorded, communicated, and safely executed across teams.
Resolve guest enquiries and complaints on the floor with professionalism and authority.

Inter-Departmental Coordination & Show Management

Act as the operational link between Hospitality, Production, Kitchen, Bar, Security, and Show Management teams.
Build and manage event Table Plans and brief operational teams on bespoke event details.
Monitor audience movement throughout performance spaces during live shows.
Complete detailed nightly Event and Show Reports covering guest feedback, maintenance issues, operational decisions, and legal due diligence regarding licensable objectives.
Deliver structured shift handovers to ensure continuity for unresolved issues.

Financial, Cash & Stock Controls

Oversee shift financial operations, including till allocations, POS reconciliations, mid-shift floor coverage, and end-of-day safe checks.
Ensure daily banking sheets, sales documentation, and financial discrepancy reports are accurate and complete.
Monitor bar, food, and retail sales while enforcing waste-tracking and stock-control procedures.
Manage walkouts, unpaid bills, and stock shortages with a commercial mindset to protect revenue.

Candidate Profile:

Requirements & Experience

Proven supervisory or management experience within a high-volume hospitality, theater, live entertainment, experiential venue, or multi-disciplined events environment.
Strong operational judgment with the confidence to manage teams, make independent decisions under pressure, and enforce safety standards.
In-depth practical understanding of food safety standards, allergen management, Health & Safety legislation, and premises licensing.
Strong technological literacy, including POS/EPOS, stock-control platforms, hospitality scheduling software, and Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong commercial and financial accuracy.

Desirable Qualifications

Personal Licence Holder
Fire Warden / Fire Marshal certification
Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
Experience within live theatre, immersive/experiential events, or multi-space entertainment venues

Pay: Up to £17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
