Fleet & Plant Workshop Manager

Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering is an award-winning specialist contractor delivering complex marine, civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Fleet & Plant Workshop Manager to take ownership of our workshop operations, fleet and plant maintenance.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be responsible for ensuring our vehicles, plant, tools and equipment are maintained, compliant and ready to support projects across the country. Alongside workshop duties, you'll lead a small team, prioritise workloads and help drive continuous improvements within the workshop and yard.
Based primarily at our Swansea headquarters, the role will occasionally require travel to sites across the UK, including overnight stays where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the workshop and fleet.
- Lead, support and coordinate the workshop team.
- Prioritise workloads to meet operational and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate servicing, inspection and certification records for plant and equipment.
- Ensure fleet vehicles, plant and equipment are serviced and maintained in line with planned schedules.
- Liaise with site teams to ensure equipment, tooling and materials are available when required.
- Diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of equipment, including heavy plant, marine equipment, boat engines, fleet vehicles and power tools.
- Source parts, consumables and materials from suppliers.
- Manage workshop stock levels and purchasing requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance, organisation and continual improvement of the workshop, yard and buildings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety and productivity.
About You
We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and able to take ownership. You'll be confident making decisions, solving problems and supporting the wider operational team.
Essential Requirements
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair experience.
- Experience maintaining plant, fleet vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Basic IT skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Previous workshop or team management experience.
- Experience within construction, marine, civil engineering or heavy industry.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Forklift, telehandler or plant operator qualifications.
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and equipment compliance requirements.
