Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Cook and Housekeeper to join our team. This role involves preparing nutritious meals for children, maintaining a clean and organised environment, and supporting the overall wellbeing of our nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and experience in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within a childcare setting.

Duties

Prepare and cook healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children in accordance with dietary guidelines
Assist with meal planning and ensure all food is prepared safely and hygienically
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and storing ingredients correctly
Support general housekeeping duties such as tidying, laundry, and organising supplies
Ensure food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
Monitor the cleanliness and organisation of the nursery environment to promote a safe and welcoming space for children
Assist with other duties as required to support the smooth running of the nursery

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a childcare or similar environment
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
Experience with meal preparation for young children or infants is desirable
Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous
Ability to maintain cleanliness and organisation within busy environments
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Friendly, caring manner with excellent communication skills
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
