About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping operation in Portsmouth on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a key leadership role within a busy hotel environment, where you will have the opportunity to inspire your team, maintain exceptional standards, and make a real impact every day.
You will play a vital role in ensuring our housekeeping operation runs smoothly, efficiently, and consistently delivers excellence.
Working Pattern
40 hours per week | 5 days out of 7
What You’ll Be Doing
As Head Housekeeper, you will:
- Lead, motivate, and support your housekeeping team to achieve outstanding service standards
- Create a positive and engaging team environment where people feel valued and encouraged to develop
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations, including stock control, linen management, equipment, and workflow planning
- Ensure health, safety, and compliance standards are always maintained
- Build strong and positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and key stakeholders
- Monitor performance, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members, helping them achieve their full potential
- Carry out regular room inspections to maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement
- Support wider business activities, including meetings, reporting, and operational planning
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Head Housekeeper or senior housekeeping leader within a hotel environment
- Availability to start in July 2026 for an initial 12-month maternity cover contract (until July 2027)
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing, motivating, and developing teams
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Confidence managing budgets, KPIs, and operational performance
- A strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenges calmly and positively
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards and a great attitude

Pay: £16.58 per hour
