Starting Salary: £29,644 progressing to £31,885 per annum (hourly rate: £15.40 - £16.57 (pro rata for part time)
Hours: Variable - up to 37 hours per week (some evenings and weekends will be required)

About the team
Situated in over 85 acres of grassland and woodland on the edge of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hudnall Park provides residential and day visits to organised groups and families. Part of Hertfordshire’s Services for Young People, the Centre is highly regarded for its standards of excellence and professionalism in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences. Hudnall Park is an inclusive provider, catering for a range of ages and abilities.
We are developing an ambitious strategy to increase activity at Hudnall Park with the intention of utilising the site all year round. This role is important to the success of that development. The centre comprises of several staff including those managing the site itself and various projects alongside several instructors. The post holder will engage with other staff from the county council, children, young people and families daily
About the role
We are looking for outgoing, passionate people who really enjoy working with children, young people and families to provide them with memorable and joyous outdoor educational and adventure experiences. A high level of demand for activities has created a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated and creative individuals to join our team of instructors at Hudnall Park Outdoor Education Centre.
Our instructors provide safe, high quality, engaging outdoor education and adventure activities, while ensuring that children and young people enjoy their time at Hudnall Park and leave with enduring memories.
Successful applicants will spend most of their time delivering outdoor, outcome-based sessions to children, young people and families and will also be expected to assist in maintaining equipment and developing resources with other staff to support the delivery of the activities on offer.
Working hours are typically between 08:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday, and as we expand our services, some evenings and weekends will be required.
Hudnall Park is in a remote location, so applicants must have access to their own transport to and from work.
Please note; there is no instructor accommodation on site.
About you
Essential:

Understanding of how outdoor education can be used to develop children’s and young people’s personal and social skills and believe in the value of outdoor learning
-
Current/recent experience in this type of role,
-
Current/recent experience having worked children and young people.

Full driving licence and regular access to a vehicle
-
Good team player
-
Great communication skills
-
Friendly, welcoming and positive attitude

An understanding of health & safety and risk

Able to plan, develop and lead activities

Able to adapt activities/delivery according to individual and group needs

First Aid (all candidates are required to have this, or must be willing to train towards it)
