For appointment to a denominational school, Teachers are required to be approved as regards religious belief and character by representatives of the church. When seeking approval, a Teacher must demonstrate how their personal “religious belief and character” enables them to undertake the duties of the particular teaching post within the context of a Catholic school. The reference for a Catholic Teacher should be provided by the teacher’s parish priest who should be able to testify to the teacher’s personal “religious belief and character”. We are looking for a highly skilled Teacher who is passionate about improving life chances for all through a professional commitment to making a difference for all our children and young people so that they achieve their full potential.
As a Teacher in Fife, you will be responsible for leading learning within your classroom context, promoting inclusion, diversity and equality, communicating with other stakeholders and for contributing to wider improvements across the school community.
Your current Headteacher will be contacted via Microsoft Forms for a reference. It is the applicant's overall responsibility to ensure the reference has been submitted by your referee to Fife Council prior to interview. No offer of employment will be made without a reference.
Applications are welcome from Permanent, Temporary and Supply Teachers who hold GTCS Standard for Full Registration, and from current Probationer Teachers participating in the Teacher Induction Scheme, or Flexible Route Probationers who will meet the GTCS Standard for Full Registration by August 2026.
Please note that to work permanently in a Catholic school, you must obtain approval from your current Catholic parish priest before applying to the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh for Approval. This approval should be started prior to attending an interview.

You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people in your setting.
You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a practitioner through career-long professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.
For permanent posts within secondary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in secondary for the specific subject.
For temporary Class Teacher posts, provisional GTCS registration in the relevant sector will be considered.
Candidates holding GTCS registration in further education must also hold secondary registration to meet the essential criteria as determined by Fife Council.

You are required to model all behaviour expected of a Teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
