Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic newly qualified Occupational Therapist to join our specialist housing consultancy team within the independent sector. The role involves working alongside leading law firms, case managers and rehabilitation professionals involved in catastrophic injury, personal injury, clinical negligence and medical negligence cases.

This is a unique opportunity to develop specialist skills in housing, accessibility, disability accommodation and property search work. The role combines clinical assessment and environmental analysis with practical housing consultancy to help identify and secure suitable properties for clients with complex accommodation needs requiring accessible housing solutions and major adaptations.

You will work alongside experienced Occupational Therapists and property professionals to assess, source and review rental and purchase properties for disabled clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Attend initial client meetings to help identify accommodation needs, environmental barriers and long term housing requirements
Carry out functional client assessments to identify short and long term housing needs
Produce clear written reports outlining accommodation requirements and property search criteria
Conduct desk based property searches using online platforms to identify potentially suitable properties
Liaise with estate agents, landlords, developers and other professionals regarding accessibility, suitability and adaptation potential
Attend property viewings to assess layout, accessibility, circulation space and feasibility for adaptation works
Develop understanding of adaptation requirements including level access, hoisting, wet rooms, wheelchair circulation and therapy space needs
Support negotiations with landlords and vendors regarding adaptation works and tenancy requirements
Maintain accurate case records, search logs and property review notes
Preparation of suitability assessments, update reports and market reviews
Work collaboratively with case managers, solicitors, deputies, architects, surveyors and rehabilitation professionals

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

Occupational Therapy degree qualification and HCPC registration
Genuine interest in housing, adaptations and disability accommodation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Ability to work independently and manage varied casework
Good problem solving and analytical skills
Professional and compassionate approach with clients and families
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Desirable:

Experience within community OT, housing adaptations or physical rehabilitation
Understanding of wheelchair accessibility and adaptation principles
Experience of report writing or environmental assessments
Knowledge of the housing or property sector
Confidence attending professional meetings and property visits
