About the Role
Our Kitchen Helpers are a vital part of the Labs House kitchen team, working alongside our chefs to ensure food is prepared efficiently and to a consistently high standard. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for anyone passionate about food and looking to build a career in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with food preparation — washing, peeling, chopping, weighing and portioning ingredients
- Unload, check and stock vendor deliveries, rotating stock correctly (FIFO)
- Maintain and restock ingredient levels and mise en place throughout service
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, smaller appliances, utensils and cutting boards
- Assist in the dish area — cleaning, drying and organising crockery and kitchenware
- Refill condiment containers, utensil bins and polish glassware as required
- Support the packing of takeaway and to-go orders where needed
- Empty and replace rubbish bags at regular intervals throughout the shift
- Adhere to all food safety, allergen awareness and hygiene regulations
- Communicate any stock shortages or equipment issues to the chef on duty
What We're Looking For
- Enthusiasm for food and a genuine desire to learn in a professional kitchen
- Ability to work quickly, accurately and calmly under pressure
- A team player who takes initiative and communicates well
- Awareness of food safety and kitchen hygiene best practices
- Previous kitchen, catering or food prep experience is welcome but not required
- Interest in progressing to a Cook or Chef role will be supported
