Join the British Library Supporting World-Class Events.
The British Library is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic AV Technician to join our team. Based at our iconic St Pancras site, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding audio-visual support for a wide variety of events. From high-profile corporate and government presentations, to public performances, conferences, and lectures, you’ll help ensure every event runs seamlessly.
As part of a specialist team, you will provide hands-on technical support across the Library’s Knowledge centre and event spaces. You’ll work closely with event organisers, internal teams, and external clients to deliver professional, high-quality AV experiences.
This is a dynamic, front-facing role that combines technical expertise with customer service and live event support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver audio-visual support for events across the British Library estate.
- Set up, operate, test, and troubleshoot AV and IT equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and networking systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software in line with agreed procedures.
- Provide on-the-day event support, including rehearsals and live production.
- Interpret client requirements and advise on suitable technical solutions.
- Monitor system performance and resolve faults or escalate where required.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, incidents, and system changes.
- Support users by providing clear guidance on AV and related technology.

Desirable Experience
- Proven hands-on experience with AV and IT systems, including:
- Crestron (or similar control systems)
- Video and projection systems
- Video/audio conferencing tools
- Ability to work in live event environments, following cues and instructions
- CTS qualification or similar AV certification
Working Pattern
This role supports a live events environment, so flexibility is essential.
