Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team in the role of Cook. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop culinary skills within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen setting is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in the culinary industry and contribute to delivering excellent service. Would suit someone retired.

Responsibilities

Food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support cooking processes, ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and to high quality
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
Help with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe working environment
Serve meals to customers in a courteous and professional manner when required
Assist with general kitchen duties such as washing, peeling, chopping, and plating food items

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant service is advantageous but not mandatory
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from senior staff
Ability to work flexibly within a busy kitchen environment, including during peak hours
