Work base: Coed Pella
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Auditor to join our Internal Audit team and help strengthen governance, risk management and internal control across the Council. With full operational independence, Internal Audit provides trusted assurance and practical insight at a time of increasing demand and reduced resources, supporting services to innovate and improve while ensuring risks are effectively managed and robust controls are in place.
About the Role
As Senior Auditor, you will play a key role in delivering independent assurance and advisory work across the Council, ensuring that public resources are used economically, processes are efficient and outcomes are achieved. You will lead audit engagements from planning through to reporting and follow-up, providing robust evaluations of governance, risk management, internal controls and compliance. You will also support the Audit Manager by mentoring colleagues and helping to strengthen and modernise internal audit practices in line with professional standards.
You will work with a wide range of people (including Heads of Service, managers and colleagues across the Council), so being able to communicate clearly, build good working relationships and handle sensitive information with confidentiality is essential.
About You
We are looking for someone with strong internal audit experience (ideally in the public sector or a similarly regulated environment), excellent judgement and communication skills, and the confidence to challenge constructively while building trusted relationships. You will demonstrate high professional integrity and apply a rigorous, standards-led approach to delivering quality internal audit work. You may also contribute to specialist areas such as IT risk, procurement governance or investigations. In return, we offer a supportive working environment, access to professional development and the benefits associated with local government employment.
What We Offer
- A supportive, collaborative working environment.
- Hybrid working options and flexible working arrangements.
- Access to Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
- Professional development opportunities, including support for CPD.
- Generous annual leave entitlement.
- An inclusive organisation that supports wellbeing and work–life balance
