Job Summary

WAX Group is looking for a football-focused Marketing Executive to help deliver an exciting new marketing strategy for Truro City FC, Cornwall’s highest-level football club.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands football, understands supporters, and knows how to create content and campaigns that get people through the gates.

The main focus of the role will be supporting the growth of Truro City FC’s attendances, helping to drive awareness, ticket sales, season tickets, memberships, sponsor activations and matchday campaigns.

During quieter periods in the football calendar, the successful candidate will also support wider WAX Group projects, including events, gyms, hospitality venues and other marketing campaigns across Cornwall.

We already have a Marketing Manager, Web Developer, Graphic Designer, Videographer and Social Media Apprentice in the team, so this role would suit a strong all-rounder who can work across lots of different areas, with a clear focus on football.

About the Role

This is not a traditional desk-only marketing role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being at matches, speaking to supporters, capturing content, organising promotional activity, working with sponsors and helping turn ideas into action.

The right person will be able to move between planning, content, community engagement, sponsor support and hands-on matchday activity.

You do not need to be an expert in every area of marketing, but you do need to be proactive, organised, creative and confident enough to get stuck in.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the delivery of Truro City FC’s attendance growth marketing plan.

Helping promote home fixtures, season tickets, memberships and matchday events.

Creating and scheduling social media content.

Capturing photo and video content at matches, events and activations.

Working with the wider WAX marketing team to brief graphics, videos, web updates and paid campaigns.

Helping plan and deliver matchday activations, themed fixtures and community campaigns.

Supporting sponsor activations and helping ensure commercial partners receive strong value.

Working with grassroots football clubs, schools, local businesses and community groups to grow attendance.

Assisting with email campaigns, ticket promotions and database growth.

Helping coordinate physical marketing, including posters, flyers and local promotional activity.

Attending Truro City fixtures where required, including evenings and weekends.

Supporting other WAX Group marketing projects during quieter football periods.

Contributing ideas for content, campaigns, giveaways, matchday experiences and fan engagement.

About You

You have a strong knowledge of football and understand football culture.

You are ideally familiar with Truro City FC, Cornish football or the local sporting landscape.

You understand what makes supporters attend matches and what makes a good matchday experience.

You are confident creating content for social media.

You are organised and able to manage multiple tasks at once.

You are comfortable working at live events and matchdays.

You are happy speaking with supporters, sponsors, community groups and local businesses.

You are a practical, hands-on person who can help make things happen.

You are creative, but also commercially minded.

You are comfortable working as part of a wider marketing team.

You are willing to work evenings and weekends when fixtures or events require it.

Essential Requirements

Strong understanding of football.

Experience in marketing, content, events, media, social media or a similar role.

Good written communication skills.

Strong organisational skills.

Confidence using social media platforms.

Ability to work matchdays, evenings and weekends when required.

Full UK driving licence and access to transport.

Desirable Requirements

Knowledge of Truro City FC.

Knowledge of Cornish football.

Experience working in sport, events, hospitality or entertainment.

Experience with Meta Business Suite, Canva, Mailchimp or similar platforms.

Basic photo or video capture skills.

Experience working with sponsors, partners or local businesses.

Experience helping sell tickets, memberships or event attendance.
