Part time role
We are looking for an assistant manager to join our team and help drive the shop to the next level.
Do you have a background in animal retail - if so we want you. We are an independent business offering flexibility in the role for you to add your own stamp. Help define the product range, which animals we have in and what products we stock.
The role will be working aprox 20 hours a week across 3 - 4 days including 1 weekend day.
We sell a range of animals including rodents, birds, exotics and aquatics. If you are a sales driven, entrepreneurial individual with a business mind and a passion for pets then we want to hear from you!
We are looking for an experienced person who has previously worked in a pet shop to join our store which sells aquatics and reptiles (previous aquatic, reptile or pet shop experience essential). We have a range of tropical and cold water fish and then a selection of reptiles, inverts, birds and small animals. We then stock a range of dry foods and accessories for dogs and cats and all the above and we serve a range of customers every week from passing trade to our local regulars.
You will be responsible for serving customers, caring for the animals as well as ordering, paperwork, compliance, dealing with queries and advertising on social media and supporting the store manager.
A strong knowledge of animals is essential (this is not a learn on the job opportunity). You will be tested in interview across all knowledge areas including identifying fish and their care, small animals/ bird basic husbandry and reptile knowledge. You will need to advise customers in all areas and refine the product range throughout the year to push margin and drive sales.
