Amada Turret Punch Setter / Operator (with loader and part picker)
4 Day Working Week.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to set, operate, and maintain our Amada Turret Punch Press (with loader and part picker). The successful candidate will ensure high-quality, efficient production in line with engineering drawings, while maintaining safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications, liaising with the engineering department for adjustments as required.
· Perform full machine setups, including turret configuration, tooling selection, and calibration.
· Conduct first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks throughout production.
· Carry out material verification prior to loading and ensure correct program selection.
· Optimise punch programs, nesting layouts, and setups to maximise efficiency and minimise waste or downtime.
· Install, remove, and maintain tooling safely; ensure correct tool heights, die clearances, and punch depths are applied.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling, material, or machine performance.
· Perform routine machine maintenance and identify wear on consumable parts, reporting issues proactively.
· Maintain excellent housekeeping and adhere to all safety procedures.
· Collaborate with engineering and programming teams to improve production methods and tooling performance.
· Support and assist other operators, contributing to a strong, knowledge-sharing team environment.
Requirements
· Proven experience operating and setting Amada turret punch machines.
· Strong understanding of tooling, punch and die clearance, and material characteristics.
· Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings accurately.
· Experience with Amada software for nesting and machine programming desirable.
· High attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Good communication skills and time management.
· Forklift licence is required.
Schedule
· Four-day working week: Monday to Thursday, 6:30am – 4:45pm.
· Overtime: Voluntary weekday overtime and shared weekend callouts (call-out rate available).
