The Role:

The Deputyship & Appointeeship team works with clients who require financial protection for their property and financial affairs. You will ensure that clients’ assets and finances are secured in line with the Office of the Public Guardian’s Deputy Standards, the Department for Work and Pensions ‘requirements, and internal procedures, and will closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to do so. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the duties carried out by the team, relevant experience, and emotional resilience when dealing with challenging and vulnerable clients.

Key Responsibilities:

To secure all clients' assets and finances by complying with the Public Authority Deputyship Standards and Council procedures

To carry out a yearly visit to review clients' finances, ensuring any changes are reported promptly and where necessary review savings and investment portfolios seeking independent advice

Ensure clients have a reasonable budget plan in place which allows them to meet their weekly and future needs

Complete annual reports for submission to the Office of the Public Guardian

Liaise with Social Care to ensure any level of care (including and supplementary therapies or treatments) is relevant to the client, good value for money and appropriate to the level of funds available

About You:

A detailed understanding of the range of duties carried out by the Deputyship/Appointeeship Team

Thorough Knowledge of the legislation relevant to the post including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Code of Conduct

Knowledge of safeguarding issues, together with referrals to the relevant authority

Relevant experience in a financial, administrative or welfare benefits function

Ability to manage own workload, use initiative and deliver to challenging deadlines
