Lab Support Steward

Job Title: Lab Support Steward
Salary:£ 27,007.50 Per Annum
Contract: Permanent
Type of Employment: Full Time
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Location: GSK, Harmire Road, Barnard Castle, County Durham, England, DL12 8DT

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Lab Support Steward to join a well-established team supporting our client through an integrated laboratory service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working within a structured scientific environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of compliance, safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Washing, managing, and restocking laboratory glassware
Performing laboratory fume cupboard checks to ensure airflow compliance with procedures
Safe handling and removal of contaminated and hazardous waste
Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory areas using rotating disinfectants in line with procedures
Supporting general media preparation activities
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and GMP compliance across laboratory areas
Following documented procedures and ensuring accurate record keeping in line with ALCOA principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate)

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

GCSE/NAT level qualifications in English, Mathematics, and Science (preferably Biology)
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict procedures consistently
A methodical and organised approach to work
Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
An understanding of compliance and quality standards within a laboratory or regulated environment would be advantageous

This is a mobile and physically active role which includes manual handling and lifting activities, therefore a good level of physical fitness is essential.
