Trainee | Fixed-term | Grantham

What could be a better start to your career than a 12-month placement with one of the UK’s leading accountants and business advisers?

If you’re a second-year university student looking to work in assurance, business services, or tax, this is a great opportunity for you.

After a couple of years of studying, you might be ready to see how accountants actually work. This placement will give you hands-on experience within your area of interest, access to top-quality mentoring, networking opportunities, and more.

If you’re keen to expand on your knowledge and skills in preparation for a career in accountancy, then we want to hear from you!

Before sending us your application, please note that these placements are only open to second-year university students and last for a period of 12 months.

What you'll do during your placement

After a friendly orientation where you’ll meet your team, you’ll get started working on real projects. Every day will be different, giving you a chance to develop a broad range of skills, take on new responsibilities, and understand your role in greater detail.

Our placement trainees finish the programme with:

Lots of our second-year placement students go on to secure roles with us after they graduate. Your placement could be a great way for you to get your foot in the door of the accountancy industry and set yourself up for a job post-university.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for bright, engaged accountancy students who are keen to get practical experience in the industry. Our team needs people who can bring ideas to the table, thrive when collaborating with others, and are eager to learn all they can about the sector.

As a second-year university student, we aren’t expecting you to know everything already or have heaps of work experience under your belt. However, we do want applicants who can commit to the full 12-month placement, commute to one of our locations, and want to make a meaningful contribution to our work at Duncan & Toplis.
