Rugby Stars are re-launching in the Market Harborough area for 2026, and we're looking for Self-Employed Coaches to join us in this exciting new chapter!
Rugby Stars offer fun and active rugby-themed play sessions for children aged 2 to 6 years old.
Our freelance coaches deliver sessions with passion and enthusiasm, creating an environment that is fun and pressure-free whilst teaching children the core values of rugby, and teaching children fundamental rugby skills.
Our classes follow meticulously designed class plans that challenge and develop children’s skills, confidence and fitness week on week. They also incorporate and encourage parent and child interaction.
Our main objective is to inspire children to develop a love of sport and fitness in an environment that is fun and pressure-free.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, energetic leaders who are great with kids to join our growing team of Head and Support coaches. We offer part time hours at weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday mornings) with further opportunities for midweek and after school sessions if there is demand.
Head Coach – main responsibilities:
● Lead, motivate and engage with the children in your classes
● Work through the Rugby Stars Framework of games and tasks to teach the basic core skills used in rugby in a fun and structured environment
● Demonstrate games and skills with enthusiasm and energy, and provide positive feedback to the children
● Plan the sessions, ensure classes start and finish on time, and engage with parents
Support Coach – main responsibilities:
● Help set up the venue for classes and individual activities
● Demonstrate games and skills with enthusiasm and energy, and provide positive feedback to the children
● Identify and help children who need extra assistance or encouragement
● Ensure the children have fun
Successful candidates must be:
● Great with young children
● Hard-working, highly outgoing, enthusiastic and organised
● Confident, friendly and approachable
● Proactive and be able to use own initiative
● Confident working with children and interacting with parents
● Confident in leading large groups of children through sports activities
● Patient and supportive with children who may at times need additional support
● Able to articulate clear and direct instructions to children
● Hold a full Enhanced DBS Check on the update service (or be willing to obtain one for a fee)
● Undertake Safeguarding Training, First Aid, and any other health & safety course for compliance purposes (this is covered by Rugby Stars)
Desirable attributes:
● Experience of working with children and/or previous children’s coaching experience
● A passion for fitness and sports (ideally rugby but not essential)
● Willingness to learn and improve.
