JOB TITLE - Attendance Coach (1-year Fixed Term Contract)

PAY - £28, 074 per annum (pro-rata where applicable)

HOURS - 37 hours per week

LOCATION - Peterborough College/Stamford College

Attendance Coach

Be the driving force behind student success by turning data into daily breakthroughs and breaking down barriers to education.

Job Purpose

Join us in this newly created, data-centric role designed to provide an unrelenting focus on student attendance and early pastoral intervention. As our primary frontline resource, you will deploy a high-visibility, 'day-one' response to absences, identifying internal and external barriers to education. By owning low-level attendance hurdles and building strong relationships with parents, you will relieve the administrative burden on teaching staff and empower our Student Wellbeing Services to focus on complex safeguarding needs.

Key Targets

Achieve an overall student attendance benchmark of 95%.

Ensure English and Maths attendance remains above 80%.

Essential Responsibilities

Frontline Intervention & Engagement

Launch immediate, high-visibility 'day-one' responses to daily absences.

Conduct targeted home visits to investigate persistent absence and engage families.

Patrol student social spaces to promote excellent punctuality and direct students to class.

Data Insights & Administration

Monitor data management systems to track daily and weekly attendance patterns.

Provide clear, accurate reports to curriculum teams to maximise student retention.

Take ownership of tracking to remove administrative burdens from teaching staff.

Collaboration & Safeguarding

Liaise extensively with parents, carers, and outside agencies to support students.

Handle initial low-level barriers and triage complex safeguarding or mental health concerns directly to the Wellbeing team.

Collaborate with curriculum managers to review intervention strategies for vulnerable groups.

Actively support student recruitment activities, including Open Days, enrolment, and inductions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Level 3 qualification or equivalent standard of education.
Experience: Proven track record of working with young people or families in an educational, pastoral, or community support setting.
Data Literacy: Strong IT skills with experience using data management systems or student databases to track patterns and generate reports.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage difficult conversations and build trust with parents and students.
Compliance: A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for home visits), alongside a successful Enhanced DBS check.
