Role: Trainee Transport Team Leader
Salary: £28,000 - £29,000 per annum
Location: Newcastle
We are looking for a Trainee Transport Team Leader to join our growing Transport and Operations team at our Newcastle Depot.
You will serve as a key point of contact for our Waste Services customers, therefore your passion for delivering excellent customer service is essential. Alongside this, you will support the coordination and development of a team of drivers, helping to ensure our day-to-day logistics operation runs efficiently and safely.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where strong organisation, communication and decision-making skills are key to success.
Job Activities:
- Welcome and support customers across multiple communication platforms including telephone, email, live chat and face to face
- Build strong, lasting relationships with customers and deliver excellent service at all times
- Proactively manage high volumes of calls, emails and orders with accuracy and efficiency
- Accurately create, record and schedule orders/services using bespoke IT systems
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive outcome
- Support the daily coordination and planning of drivers across skips, hook and trade waste services
- Promote the company’s services and support business growth
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, tachograph and driver hours regulations
- Assist with driver performance, engagement and development
- Support driver administration including holidays, sickness and wage queries
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including accounts and wider operations
- Contribute to a positive team environment and promote company values
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Excellent communication skills with a confident and professional manner
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft systems and accurate data input
- Ability to build rapport and maintain strong working relationships
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle challenging situations and problem solve effectively
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
