We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Physical Education - ECT. The teaching commitment for this role is part-time; however, we are looking for a candidate who is willing to undertake an additional two days per week in the capacity of a Cover Supervisor, thereby contributing more broadly to the work of the school.

Key responsibilities:

Teacher of PE:

Have high expectations of learners to ensure they achieve their full educational potential
Set challenging teaching and learning objectives which are relevant to all students in your classes
Select and prepare a range of resources that take in to account all students’ learning needs, languages and cultural backgrounds
Apply a range of teaching strategies to deliver learning objectives and incorporate inclusive strategies that meet the needs of all learners
To work collaboratively with other professionals and manage the work of support staff to enhance students’ learning

Cover Supervisor:

Supervising pupils undertaking work that has been set in accordance with the Academy’s policy, under the guidance of teaching/senior staff.
Establishing productive working relationships with students, promoting positive values/attitudes and setting high expectations
Monitoring and evaluation of students’ responses to learning activities through observation and recording of achievement and providing feedback/reports as required
Encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities
Effective use of ICT to support learning activities and develop students’ competence and independent use.

Pay range:

Teacher of PE:

M1 £19,749.60 (FTE: £32,916.00)

19.5 hours per week

Cover Supervisor:

SCP 6 - 12 £9,266.73 - £10,197.01 (FTE: £25,989.00 - £28,598.00)

15 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:

Qualified teacher status or recognised equivalent
Degree in subject specialism
Ability to teach ‘good or outstanding’ lessons
Effective classroom management
