Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Electrical Trainer / Assessor to join our expanding electrical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys developing the next generation of electricians whilst helping experienced learners achieve nationally recognised qualifications.
The Role
As an Electrical Trainer / Assessor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging classroom and practical training, supporting learners throughout their qualification journey and carrying out workplace assessments.
The role combines classroom delivery with assessing, learner support and employer liaison, ensuring all learners receive an exceptional training experience while maintaining awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.
Main ResponsibilitiesTraining Delivery
Deliver high-quality training on programmes including:
- Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV)
- Electric Vehicle Charging (EV)
- Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS)
- Inspection & Testing
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Level 2 Electrical Courses
- Level 3 Electrical Courses
You will:
- Prepare lesson plans and practical activities.
- Deliver classroom and workshop-based learning.
- Support learners of varying abilities.
- Assess practical competence during training.
- Prepare learners for examinations and practical assessments.
- Ensure all sessions are engaging, safe and compliant.
Assessment Duties
You will support the assessment of learners working towards electrical qualifications, including:
- Level 3 Electrical NVQ
- Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA/EWAS)
- Workplace competence assessments
- Portfolio assessment
- Site visits
- Professional discussions
- Witness testimonies
- Reviewing photographic and documentary evidence
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out workplace observations.
- Assessing learner competence against qualification standards.
- Providing constructive written and verbal feedback.
- Supporting learners to successfully complete their portfolios.
- Maintaining accurate assessment records.
- Liaising with employers regarding learner progress.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain awarding organisation requirements.
- Complete all assessment paperwork accurately and on time.
- Support Internal Quality Assurance processes.
- Participate in standardisation meetings.
- Assist with EQA visits where required.
- Maintain learner files and documentation to a high standard.
Learner Support
- Motivate learners throughout their qualification.
- Identify additional support needs.
- Monitor learner progress.
- Encourage high attendance and achievement.
- Build positive relationships with employers and apprentices.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or recognised equivalent)
- Industry experience as an electrician
- Assessor Award (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations
- Experience delivering or assessing electrical qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
- Teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET or equivalent)
- Solar PV qualification
- EV Charging qualification
- Inspection & Testing qualification
- Experience assessing Level 3 NVQ portfolios
- Experience completing Experienced Worker Assessments (EWA/EWAS)
