Job Purpose:
To assist the Directors and Senior Staff in undertaking the Company’s portfolio of planning and appeal casework.
Key areas of Responsibility:
- To manage casework from initial enquiry to determination under supervision of senior staff
Planning
In particular but not exclusively:
- Managing applications from appointment to determination
- Assisting with preparation of quotes
- Undertaking thorough and meticulous research of planning policies, legislation and other material considerations of relevance to the planning casework of the company
- Preparing statements and supporting documentation for applications
- Managing the preparation of supporting documentation for applications by other members of the Applications Team and outside consultants
- Monitoring of the process and progress of applications and conducting negotiations with LPAs and consultees
- Keeping clients informed of progress throughout, advising them throughout the process
- Supervision of technical staff preparing project documentation
- Preparation of appeal handover files
- Reviewing potential new client files prepared by others for issue, drafting advice as required
- Research of additional site details including planning history and planning policies
General office duties
- Maintaining records including job filing and electronic records
- Assisting in answering telephone calls and taking messages when administrative staff are unavailable
- Assist the general running and administration of the practice by carrying out administrative and support tasks as requested by the Directors and Senior Management
Qualifications:
Desirable
- Degree
- Post graduate qualification from an RTPI accredited course
- Chartered Membership of the RTPI
Experience/Expertise:
Essential
- Ability to write clear technical/legal English
- Good telephone manner
- Effective team working
- Ability to carry out thorough and logical research and record finding
Desirable
- Good verbal presentation skills
- Drawing/CAD software skills
Required Knowledge:
Essential
- Knowledge of the planning system
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to use the internet as a research tool
Desirable
- Additional specialist expertise in land use planning

Additional details:
The post is full time at our offices at Upton Magna Business Park. There may be some out of hours working with time off in lieu, mutually agreed in advance.
Working hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.
