Job Description
The role:
An exciting opportunity has opened within the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) for an experienced Intelligence Analyst to join our Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU).
The successful applicant will:
Collect, collate, evaluate and analyse information from a wide variety of internal and external sources to investigate those involved in organised crime.
Handle sensitive information and work within guidelines to develop opportunities to parallel and enhance the intelligence picture.
Produce high quality analytical products in support of operational requirements.
Make recommendations to direct operational teams and assist in the conviction of offenders.
Work independently at pace and under pressure to support operational needs.
Build relationships with partner agencies to increase knowledge and further opportunities for developing intelligence.
Produce analytical products to an evidential standard and take an active role in peer review of products.
About the Team
The SIU is an exciting and dynamic place to work. Supporting operations in Force, ROCU and across partner agencies, we exploit and enhance intelligence from multiple sensitive data sources to target the highest threat and harm areas affecting the Eastern Region.
You will work alongside a team of skilled analysts and intelligence development officers to analyse, assess, review and develop investigations, making recommendations to drive business activity and inform tactical planning.
You will be at the forefront of new technologies and be encouraged to participate in trials and projects to directly influence future technologies across Law Enforcement and further your career development.
As part of this role, you will be required to partake in an on-call rota, as the Sensitive Intelligence Unit is responsible for providing a 24/7 intelligence response for fast time crimes in action. This will include a requirement for some weekend working and on call, approximately one week in every eight.
Who We’re Looking For
An experienced analyst with a minimum of one year working as an analyst within Law Enforcement, ideally within intelligence.
Ability to work with Windows based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience working with communications data.
Experience of CSAS / Chorus or equivalent customised databases.
Well-developed numeric, analytical and research techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Flexible approach to work and ability to self-motivate.
If you are a driven, self motivated analyst with attention to detail and a passion for dismantling our highest harm threats and OCGs then this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Interested? Please see the attached Role Profile for further details including essential and desirable criteria.
Please note: selected candidates may be invited to complete an assessment exercise as part of the recruitment process.
WORK LOCATION
This role will be based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire with the requirement to travel across the region when necessary. ERSOU supports principles of agile working and encourages staff from any force or location to apply for positions. However, due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to work at a designated site within Stevenage up to and including 5 days a week. There are occasional opportunities for agile work dependant on operational demands.
ERSOU – Who are we and what we do
Created in 2010, ERSOU is funded by the seven police forces that make up the eastern region, with Bedfordshire Police being the lead force. Working for ERSOU presents a fantastic opportunity for you to learn and develop within a unique law enforcement community whose staff and officers are dedicated to protecting the public from the threat of terrorism and serious and organised crime.
We are committed to building a leadership team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We actively encourage applications from individuals who are currently underrepresented at senior levels, including women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, disabled people, and those from LGBTQ+ communities.
