Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead on curriculum design and development of the curriculum, ensuring that College activity is aligned to the delivery of strategic objectives
- Seek out opportunities for innovation and have the courage to take risks and make step changes to how things are done
- Empower others to put forward creative and innovative approaches and take appropriate risks
- Develop an ethos of high expectations of staff and students across all programmes.
- Drive and deliver a culture that emphasises continuous improvement, efficiency and value for money
- Lead on teaching, learning and assessment and aspects of developing pedagogy to drive standards of teaching and learning
- Be proactive in supporting teachers to create a stimulating and challenging learning environment which secures effective learning and provides high standards of achievement, behaviour and student motivation.
- Motivate and inspire the team to develop their own skills and behaviours
- Identify, nurture and lead talent effectively to help meet future strategic objectives
- Devise, lead and deliver whole staff professional development and training when necessary.
- To work with cross college Heads of Curriculum to maximise student progress in maths and English and support the raising of achievement in GCSE /Functional Skills English and GCSE maths.
- Support the Director of Curriculum and Deputy Principal in the monitoring of the quality of teaching and student progress, including the analysis of performance and progress data.
- Deliver against agreed student retention, attendance, success and value-added targets
- Work with colleagues across the college to deliver an overall student experience, which engages, inspires and prepares students for the world of work.
- Use customer insight to determine and drive customer service outcomes and quality throughout own work
- Implement an effective and efficient resource model to support the delivery of curriculum including for example; optimised timetabling; staff utilisation across the curriculum area of responsibility; and, in the use of learning technologies to support social and self-directed learning.
- Understand the financial position of own area, the organisation and the wider economy and recognise impacts of this when delivering services
- Provide comprehensive regular reports on budgets with accurate forecasting and identification of interventions to ensure budgets are met
- Lead a team of teaching staff; provide colleagues with inspiration, direction and support they need to deliver outstanding teaching and learning, whilst improving in their own roles.
- Create and encourage a culture of initiative, flexibility and responsiveness, mobilising your area of responsibility to respond swiftly to changing priorities
- With the support of quality and innovation colleagues, comply to the college’s systematic programme of quality assurance and improvement.
- Support the college’s Ofsted quality nominee to ensure accurate and robust information is provided, resulting in the best possible inspection outcome for the college and its students.
- Work with colleagues across the college to ensure we are providing necessary safeguarding support for students.
- Work with MIS colleagues to maintain accurate up to date learner records, whilst ensuring funding is maximised in each curriculum area of responsibility.
