We are recruiting for a People Services Compliance Lead to join us here at Octavius.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
This role is about getting the fundamentals right, and making sure they actually work in practice.
You'll be responsible for building and embedding a clear, consistent People compliance framework that stands up to scrutiny but also works day to day. That means turning employment law and regulation into processes, controls and guidance that people can realistically follow.
A big part of the role is bringing structure to complex areas, particularly IR35, contingent labour, right to work, sponsorship and people data, making sure we're compliant, commercially sensible and able to evidence decisions properly.
You'll work closely with the People, Assurance, Commercial and operational teams across the business.
This isn't a role that sits on the side, you'll be involved in real decisions, helping managers and leaders work through risk and apply the right approach.
The way we work is straightforward and collaborative. People expect clear, practical advice, so part of the role is cutting through complexity and being someone others trust to give a balanced view.
We offer a competitive rewards package, including a Company Car scheme, Private Healthcare, Pension, Life Assurance cover, 25 days Annual Leave (and a day off for your birthday). You'll also have access to Hybrid working where possible, an enhanced Paternity & Maternity package and the opportunity to develop yourself personally and professionally.
This is a role with real ownership, you'll shape how People compliance works, not just maintain it.
- Comfortable working in the detail, but you don't lose sight of the bigger picture.
- Understand employment law well, but more importantly, you know how to apply it in a way that works in a live operational environment.
- Pragmatic. You don't overcomplicate things, and you don't rely on theory, you focus on what's workable, defensible and consistent.
- Can influence without relying on hierarchy.
- Clear, measured, and confident in your judgement.
