Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and make a real difference by supporting the development of our site and operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the front end and the detailed facility design. A key focus of the role will be providing input to ensure the smooth commissioning phase, as well as ongoing operational support of a new plastics recycling facility once live. Responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient supply of electrical power to the site, they will oversee all aspects of electrical design, cable routing, installation, safety compliance, and maintenance. Working closely with project teams and subcontractors, the Electrical Engineer will ensure that the facility’s electrical infrastructure supports continuous 24/7 operations, while driving improvements, efficiencies and modifications as required, as well as providing professional assurance for all electrical systems and supplies.
Duties
Build and Commissioning Phase:
- Collaborate with design and project teams in terms of front end and detailed design input, specification, and implementation of the facility’s electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, control systems, and routing.
- Specify and influence plant layout, power distribution flows, and equipment selection.
- Manage and oversee electrical installations during construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications, codes, and standards.
- Participate in HAZOPs and operational readiness plans
- Work closely with mechanical, process, C&I and operations teams to integrate electrical systems within the overall plant performance.
- Assist in the purchasing, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of electrical subcontractors, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality delivery
- Work closely with the Production and Quality Managers to develop electrical operational procedures for the plant and wider facility
- Support the team during the completion of performance guarantee trials with the new facility
- Assist with factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).
Operational Phase:
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Ensure electrical systems provide reliable capacity for continuous 24/7 plant operations.
- Monitor, test, and commission electrical systems to support the transition from build to operational phases.
- Develop and maintain electrical safety procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and modify electrical systems and equipment to optimise performance and reliability.
- Lead root cause analysis for electrical failures, implementing corrective and preventative measures.
- Prepare technical documentation including drawings, schematics, reports, and maintenance records.
- Implement and lead (technical) continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies.
- Maintain accurate electrical documentation, performance data, and reports for internal and regulatory use.
- Lead or contribute to CAPEX projects related to electrical improvements and equipment upgrades.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required by the business.
Qualifications and Experience
- · Batchelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Professional Member of the IEE or similar
- CompEX certification
- HV authorised person
- Experience in process engineering, ideally in plastics, polymer manufacturing, or recycling
- Experience supporting new facility build, commissioning, or start-up projects (particularly overseas)
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar CI certification
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 standards

Pay: £65,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
