HGV ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HGV Assembly Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience with various tools and fabrication techniques. The position involves working on complex equipment, including excavators and forklifts, and requires a proactive approach to maintenance and customer service.

Duties

Assemble HGV components using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering
Interpret technical schematics and electrical diagrams to facilitate accurate assembly and repairs
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs to ensure optimal performance
Utilise welding, soldering, and fabrication skills to modify or repair vehicle structures
Operate heavy machinery including excavators and forklifts safely within the workshop environment
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics and technical knowledge
Perform equipment repairs, replacements, or upgrades in accordance with safety standards
Assist with customer service by providing technical support or explanations regarding vehicle repairs or modifications
Engage in heavy lifting activities safely while handling large components or assemblies

Qualifications

Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, or mechanical assembly of heavy vehicles or equipment
Strong knowledge of schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment used in vehicle assembly and repair
Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a busy workshop environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on quality assurance and safety compliance
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and support customer service initiatives
Relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering are advantageous

Pay: £24,500.00-£44,000.00 per year
