The Cosy Plate Cafe, a new and independent family run, warm and friendly local café which will be known for quality coffee and home cooked food. We achieved our 5 star food hygiene award after a week of opening.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager for our Front of House to join our Newly opened Cafe. This multifaceted role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing a team on front of house, extensive knowledge of food hygiene and allergens, Health and Safety, Data Protection and an experienced Leader and to support the cook at times to prepare home cooked food or "Specials" during the week.

We are seeking an innovative Manager who will motivate the team to prepare signature drinks and food, we are seeking a Manager who is proactive and can maintain what we have achieved so far.
Duties
- Supervise and manage front of house staff, ensuring smooth service delivery and maintaining high standards of customer care and all other aspects of Front of House and what is expected in a Cafe environment. Support staff with in house training ad mentor apprentices to reach their potential. Be involved in Human Resources relating to staff i.e. supervision, probationary reviews or the need for disciplinary proceedings with support from our HR team. Be involved or lead team meetings or training, rotas and other aspects of managing a team.
- Be responsible for the Point of Sale system and ensuring is in order at the beginning and the end of each shift.
- Assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring dishes meet quality and safety standards whenever the cook is away from the Cafe.
- Oversee food production processes, maintaining efficiency and consistency in meal presentation so that customers return and talk about how we present our food and return with their friends and relatives.
- Design new food menus/drink menus and support the cafe with trends in food and drinks that are popular.
- Food shopping and working with food suppliers to negotiate costings etc
- Lead the team in adhering to food safety regulations and hygiene practices and recording checks
- Ensure the Cafe is kept clean and standards are exceptional inside and outside of the cafe and to motivate staff to clean to the standards expected of them.
- Manage daily operational tasks including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
- Serve customers with professionalism and friendliness, creating a welcoming atmosphere and this will be filtered down to the staff.
- Support the management team in implementing organisational policies and training programmes.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve any issues promptly to ensure satisfaction
- Contribute to menu planning and special event preparations as required
- Being able to work on own initiative
Qualifications
- Excellent Customer care skills is paramount
- Being proactive and working on own initiative is essential
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and cafe operations
- 3 Years of Supervising experience with team management capabilities
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- 3 Years of previous hospitality or hotel experience is essential
- Skills in Front of House leadership, understanding the needs of the Cafe environment and have experience of
- Barista experience or background in serving beverages is essential
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide staff effectively, being involved in Administration and Human resources tasks.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- A friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills
- Networking and interpersonal skills to support the business to gain new custom
This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in this kind of environment, demonstrating both Hospitality expertise and leadership qualities. Candidates should be committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene.
Some administration and HR tasks will be required to support the Manager i.e. staff rotas, involvement in staff supervision, training and probationary reviews and disciplinary.
Pay: Up to £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 35.0 per week
