Full job description

Salary: £24,479 per annum (full-time equivalent). The full-time hours for this role are 35 hours per week, however, we are happy to consider part-time working arrangements, with a minimum commitment of 2.5 days per week.

Tilly, Bailey & Irvine is a well established law firm who can trace its heritage back 180 years to its Hartlepool roots. We have expanded and developed considerably over the years and have offices in Stockton-on-Tees, Barnard Castle, Wynyard and Sunderland as well as continuing to have a strong presence in Hartlepool. Despite the continued growth, we continue to uphold traditional values of courtesy, integrity and friendliness.

We are seeking an organised and proactive Legal Secretary to join our Litigation Department based in Hartlepool. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial support to fee earners, helping them to operate efficiently while delivering an excellent service to clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence and documents.
Preparing documents from instruction sheets.
Opening, maintaining and closing client files.
Managing manual and electronic filing systems.
Diary management, arranging appointments and meetings.
Supporting clients both over the telephone and face-to-face.
Preparing post and arranging document production and copying.
Providing support and cover for colleagues as required.
Assisting with the efficient operation of the department and wider Firm.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous legal secretarial experience, preferably within a litigation environment, although this is not essential.
Fast and accurate audio and copy typing skills.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail, including a high standard of spelling and grammar.
The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A professional, positive and proactive approach.
