Full job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing budgets, and ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects while developing your expertise within a supportive environment. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a good understanding of construction processes, and experience in cost control.

Estimator - Quantity Surveyor - Stafford. Construction within new build, fit-out or refurbishment experience.

(We have a similar position for an Assistant Estimator / Intermediate Estimator based in Halesowen)

You must live within 1 hour of Stafford. Have UK experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor and have a full UK driving licence. If not your c.v will be deleted

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment
Analyse project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and resource requirements
Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to gather pricing information and negotiate favourable terms
Conduct risk assessments related to costs and develop contingency plans as necessary
Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects
Assist in tendering processes by preparing bid documents and evaluating tenders received
Provide advice on cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies related to cost management

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within the construction industry
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Excellent skills in cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and team members
Relevant qualification such as RICS accreditation or equivalent is preferred but not essential
A proactive approach with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
