Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bookkeeping Team Leader to oversee our finance department’s bookkeeping operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting software, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a team, optimise financial processes, and contribute to the organisation’s financial health. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a solid background in bookkeeping and accounting management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the bookkeeping team to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Oversee daily bookkeeping activities, including data entry, reconciliations, and ledger management.
- Utilise accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks to manage accounts efficiently.
- Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring invoices are processed correctly and promptly.
- Maintain organised financial records in compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting.
- Provide training and support to team members on best practices in bookkeeping and accounting software usage.
- Prepare regular financial reports for management review and audit purposes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the bookkeeping function.
- Have experience managing the bookkeeping requirements of multiple companies or clients
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in accordance with relevant procedures and regulations
- Supporting the wider accounts team as required
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or team leader capacity.
- Have previous experience working as a Bookkeeper, ideally within an accountancy practice or a multi-client environment
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general ledger management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and organisation.
- Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to bookkeeping activities.
- Level 4 AAT qualified and practise experience
