Full job description

Job Purpose

Veetee is a global ambient foods and rice company, supplying major retailers, wholesalers, and food manufacturing businesses. We operate two factories and three warehouses in Rochester, Kent, alongside a manufacturing site and corporate office in India and a Sales & Distribution team in the USA.

We are looking for an experienced Machine Operator with a background in a factory or manufacturing environment. This role is not suitable for candidates without hands-on machine operating experience. Applicants must have experience operating, setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting machinery on production lines.

As a Multi-Skilled Operator, you will operate and oversee production line machinery to ensure product safety, quality, efficiency, and hygiene standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out pre-start-up safety and hygiene checks before production begins.
Set up and operate production line machinery according to production recipes and specifications.
Prepare and load raw materials for production runs.
Monitor machines throughout production and make adjustments as required.
Resolve machine stoppages and minor faults promptly to minimise downtime.
Replenish packaging materials, films, labels, glue, pallets, and other consumables during production.
Complete product changeovers and machine set-ups efficiently.
Achieve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and waste targets.
Carry out quality checks and CCP (Critical Control Point) checks at specified intervals.
Complete all production and downtime documentation accurately.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping during and after production.
Follow all health & safety policies and procedures at all times.
Work collaboratively with the production team and communicate effectively with supervisors.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and waste reduction.
Assist with training colleagues where required.

Requirements

Ability to operate a range of machinery in the manufacturing plant
A certificate in basic food hygiene
Safe manual handling practices
Good team working skills
IT literate

Shift pattern

Monday-Friday

1 year fixed term contract (maternity cover)

06:00-14:00 or 14:00-22:00 on a continuous weekly rotating pattern
