About the RolesDeputy Manager
The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring that care practice, safeguarding, leadership, compliance and quality assurance are maintained to a high standard. This role involves supporting staff development, leading shifts when required, contributing to care planning, audits, supervision, rota management and ensuring the home remains compliant with the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and safeguarding expectations.
Team Leader
The Team Leader will provide strong shift leadership and support the staff team to deliver consistent, child-centred care. This role includes guiding Residential Support Workers, supporting daily routines, completing and reviewing records, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed, and helping to create a positive culture where children and staff feel safe, supported and accountable.
Residential Support Worker
Residential Support Workers provide direct care and support to children and young people. This includes building trusted relationships, supporting daily routines, encouraging education and activities, promoting emotional regulation, completing accurate records, and helping children develop confidence, independence and positive life skills.
Bank Worker
Bank Workers provide flexible support to the home, helping to cover shifts and support the team when needed. This role is ideal for people who want flexible working while still making a positive contribution to children’s lives. Bank staff are expected to follow the same professional standards, safeguarding procedures and recording expectations as permanent staff.
Waking Night Worker
Waking Night Workers play a vital role in keeping children safe overnight. This includes completing night-time checks, responding calmly to children’s needs, maintaining a safe and settled environment, completing records, supporting morning routines where required, and ensuring any concerns are passed on clearly to the wider team.

Pay will be agreed based on the role applied for, relevant experience, qualifications, level of responsibility and ability to evidence safe, child-centred practice.

Enhanced rates may be considered for overtime, emergency cover, sleep-ins, waking nights or additional responsibilities where agreed by the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the role, your duties may include:
- Providing safe, nurturing and consistent care for children and young people.

- Working in a trauma-informed, child-centred and relationship-based way.
- Supporting children to understand their feelings, develop coping strategies and make safe choices.
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Maintaining accurate daily records, incident reports, key work records and handovers.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, families, education providers, health professionals and other agencies.
- Supporting the home to remain safe, welcoming, clean and well organised.
- Attending training, supervision, team meetings and reflective practice sessions.
- Safely transporting children to appointments, activities or education where required.
- Promoting a culture of safeguarding, professionalism, accountability and high-quality care.

Qualifications and Experience
Experience in children’s residential care, youth work, education, social care, mental health, family support or another relevant setting is desirable.
For senior roles, previous experience of leading shifts, supervising staff, supporting care planning or working within a regulated children’s service would be beneficial.
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards this qualification, is desirable for Residential Support Worker roles and may be required depending on the position.
Deputy Manager applicants should ideally hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification.
A full UK driving licence is desirable and may be required for some roles.
