Architect / Architectural Technician
Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an Architect / Architectural Technician to join our growing design team based in Colchester. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in residential and commercial projects who is looking to play a key role in delivering high-quality design and technical solutions.
Working across a varied portfolio of projects, you will be involved in all stages of the design process, from planning applications through to technical delivery. Using AutoCAD, you will produce detailed drawings, collaborate with clients and consultants, and ensure projects comply with current planning and building regulations.
MCIAT accreditation is desirable but not essential.
This position would suit an Architect, Architectural Technologist, or Architectural Technician who enjoys a diverse workload, thrives in a collaborative environment, and can effectively manage multiple projects while maintaining excellent technical and design standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings for Planning and Building Regulations submissions.
- Assist in the delivery of a range of residential and commercial construction projects.
- Prepare planning drawings and ensure compliance with current planning policies and requirements.
- Produce technical information and drawings for Building Control approval.
- Apply relevant British Standards and Eurocodes throughout the design process.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members.
- Manage workloads efficiently to meet project deadlines and priorities.
- Support the team in delivering high-quality design and technical solutions.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience within residential and commercial architectural design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD within a UK construction environment.
- Strong understanding of UK planning processes and requirements.
- Experience preparing drawings and documentation for Building Regulations applications.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable
- MCIAT accreditation or a willingness to work towards professional qualification.
- Knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Experience working within a fast-paced architectural or design environment.
