Due to continued business growth and a strong order book, Quantum Controls is looking to recruit an Experienced Panel Wireman to join our team in Birtley.
With an established reputation for designing, manufacturing, and testing high-quality bespoke control panels, we work across a range of industries including water treatment, recycling, manufacturing, and industrial automation. Every project is different, offering a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
From compact PLC control cabinets to large motor control centres (MCCs), you'll play a key role in delivering industry-leading control solutions to our customers.
The Role
As an Experienced Panel Wireman, you will be responsible for building and wiring electrical control panels to a high standard, working from detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from electrical wiring schematics and layout drawings.
- Assemble and fit out electrical control cabinets and control panels.
- Cut and install DIN rail, trunking, and mounting hardware.
- Mount and identify electrical components on backplates and cabinet doors.
- Cut, strip, terminate, and crimp cables of various sizes.
- Wire electrical components including:
- PLCs
- Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- Relays
- Terminals
- Switchgear
- Door-mounted equipment
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and workmanship.
- Collaborate effectively with Team Leaders, Design Engineers, and colleagues across the business.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.
About You
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and has a passion for producing high-quality control panels.
Essential Requirements
- Time-served Panel Wireman or experience in a similar electrical assembly/wiring role.
- Minimum 1 year's panel wiring experience.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, proactive attitude with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
