We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).
We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join our team who will play a critical role in embedding a proactive quality culture, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement across the business. You will manage quality teams, support operational excellence, and act as a trusted point of contact for customers and suppliers on all quality-related matters.
Key Responsibilities as Quality Manager include:
- Managing root cause investigations, ensuring robust problem-solving methodologies are applied and sustainable corrective actions implemented.
- Embedding a proactive culture of continuous improvement with measurable gains in quality.
- Ensuring customer requirements are consistently met and/or exceeded, upholding quality customer service standards and supporting process audits.
- Facilitating and embedding the quality strategy and objectives.
- Implementation and evaluation of robust processes, procedures and standards facilitating quality performance improvement.
- Ensuring processes comply with all applicable Industry standards at both national and international level (e.g. ISO 9001 & ISO 3834-2).
- Establishing and implementing quality-related training needs across the business.
- Facilitate change management and quality performance improvement.
- Supporting operational teams on internal & external quality issues as required.
- Defining quality requirements of supplied products and supporting supplier development activities such as on-boarding, auditing, and supplier evaluation.
- Analysis and reporting of quality performance and KPIs.
- Management of the quality assurance & quality control teams promoting positive staff morale & safe working.
As with all positions, due to the nature and varying demands of our business, the responsibilities and tasks are not limited to this overview and may change to meet future demands.
Occasional travel within the UK may be required for this role.
To be successful in the role of Quality Manager with Express Engineering, you will:
- Be degree qualified in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
- Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to train & mentor staff on quality standards and best practices.
- Have a strong engineering background with experience of welding and assembly processes and be proficient at reading & interpreting engineering drawings & specifications.
- Have a solid understanding of ISO 9001.
- Be able to conduct thorough root cause analysis and develop robust corrective actions.
- Possess strong IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications.
- Be familiar with conducting internal and external audits.
- Possess strong communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Hold a full driving licence.
