Hamptonians’ examination results and university entrance record consistently rank in the top echelon nationally and indeed internationally. Nearly all Hampton leavers go on to undergraduate courses at Russell Group or equivalent universities; around 25 pupils are offered places at Oxford and Cambridge annually, and a significant number move on to global top-10 universities. We also support pupils who wish to study at universities in North America, some of whom secure academic and/or sporting scholarships.

The Junior Infrastructure Engineer supports the delivery, maintenance and continual improvement of Hampton School's enterprise infrastructure whilst developing the knowledge and practical experience required to progress into a Senior Infrastructure Engineer role.
Working closely with the Infrastructure Manager and Senior Infrastructure Engineer, the role combines first and second-line support with increasing responsibility for infrastructure administration, technical change and engineering activities.The role provides a structured development pathway, enabling the post holder to build enterprise infrastructure skills whilst contributing to the reliability, security and continual improvement of the School's technology environment.
The IT office supports just over 470 employees at both Hampton School and Hampton Pre-Prep and Prep School and you will have the opportunity to work with new and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities:
Infrastructure Support & Engineering
- Support the maintenance and day-to-day operation of the School's enterprise infrastructure
- Assist with server, identity, backup, networking and endpoint administration under the guidance of the Infrastructure Manager and Senior Infrastructure Engineer
- Carry out routine maintenance, health checks and operational tasks in accordance with departmental standards
- Develop technical knowledge through practical engineering experience.
Technical Support
- Provide first and second-line support where required, assisting colleagues in delivering a responsive IT service
- Investigate and resolve technical issues using departmental documentation and established procedures
- Escalate infrastructure issues with appropriate troubleshooting information
- Support device deployments, infrastructure installations and technical rollouts.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Assist with infrastructure projects, lifecycle refreshes and technology improvements- Participate in testing, implementation and documentation of technical changes
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability efficiency and operational processes.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate technical documentation.
Professional Development
- Follow a structured development plan towards the Senior Infrastructure Engineer role
- Work alongside senior engineers to develop enterprise infrastructure skills
- Actively undertake training, research and practical learning opportunities
- Share knowledge and contribute positively to the wider IT team.

Hours and Salary
This is a full-time position and working hours will be 8.30am - 5.00pm, Monday – Friday. Additional work, if required, is to be discussed and agreed in advance with the Director of IT and in their absence, the Bursar.
The remuneration package includes pay for holidays. Staff are required to be at School on INSET and Open Days. Annual leave should be taken during the School holidays.
The salary will be commensurate with skills and experience and will be pro-rata to reflect the term time/part time working arrangement. The Hampton School Trust Governors also currently offer the following non-contractual benefits to staff, subject to any terms and conditions and the School’s eligibility requirements: death-in-service benefit insurance policy; a Medicash healthcare cash plan; enrolment in an appropriate Pension Scheme, personal accident insurance, School fee remission, cycle to work scheme, lunch, sports facilities and counselling. Training
Training will be provided in a controlled manner and will predominately involve shadowing when working on live systems. The school expects the successful candidate to demonstrate commitment to supporting the department and their professional development. Structured commitment will aid greater development.
To attend INSET training outside the school where appropriate to increase competence, proficiency and safety awareness.
