We are seeking an experienced Commercial Site Manager to oversee and coordinate day-to-day site operations on commercial construction projects including the food industry but not limited too. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while maintaining compliance with food industry requirements, hygiene standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily site activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and in line with project drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, direct labour, and site logistics to maintain efficient progress and minimise disruption to live or operational food environments.
- Maintain strict compliance with health and safety legislation, company procedures, risk assessments, method statements, permits, and site-specific rules.
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with food industry standards, including hygiene controls, segregation, contamination prevention, clean working practices, and any client-specific food safety requirements.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, contracts managers, commercial teams, designers, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
- Monitor quality of workmanship, carry out regular inspections, manage snagging, and ensure works are completed to the required standard before handover.
- Review and coordinate site documentation, including drawings, RAMS, inspection records, site diaries, progress reports, permits, delivery notes, and handover information.
- Plan short-term programmes, manage sequencing of trades, identify risks to progress, and implement solutions to keep the project on track.
- Support commercial control by monitoring labour, materials, variations, delays, and site instructions, escalating issues where required.
- Attend and lead site meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, coordination meetings, and client progress reviews.
- Ensure site housekeeping, access routes, welfare facilities, temporary works, and storage areas are maintained to a high standard.
- Promote a positive site culture focused on safety, quality, professionalism, collaboration, and respect.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Manager, Commercial Site Manager, or similar role within commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out, industrial, or food.
- Experience working within the food industry, such as food production facilities, processing plants, cold stores, clean environments, live operational sites, or hygienic construction settings.
- Strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements, site compliance, and safe systems of work.
- SMSTS or NVQ certification.
- CSCS card appropriate to the role ideally but not essential
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Good working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, programmes, RAMS, permits, and quality control processes.
- Strong leadership, organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors in a fast-paced site environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering projects in live food production or operational manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of food safety standards.
- Experience with commercial fit-out, structural alterations, mechanical and electrical coordination, drainage, flooring, cladding, cold rooms, or process-related installations.
- Experience using project management, reporting, or document control software.
- Forklift or Telehandler operation with certification would be ideal but not essential

Please note the first project location would be Boston in Lincolnshire. Following completion in Quarter 3, our operational area covers 50 miles from Kings Lynn. Any further would be by prior agreement.
