An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Optical Store Manager to join Optical People, a thriving independent opticians in Hinckley. This is a senior leadership position for an experienced optical professional who can operate at a director level, driving both the commercial success and strategic development of the practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team, delivering outstanding patient care, maximising sales opportunities, and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the practice.
- Drive sales performance across frames, lenses, coatings, and associated products.
- Deliver an exceptional patient journey and customer experience.
- Motivate, mentor, and develop the practice team.
- Manage KPIs, business performance, and profitability.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and patient retention.
- Oversee stock control, frame selection, merchandising, supplier relationships, and purchasing.
- Create and maintain attractive, commercially effective frame displays that maximise sales opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all GOC and industry regulations.
- Work closely with the directors on strategic planning and future business development.
- Utilise lab experience for glazing, repairs, adjustments, and quality control where required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous Optical Practice Manager experience is essential.
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and achieving business targets.
- Exceptional frame styling skills with the ability to confidently recommend premium eyewear solutions.
- Previous visual merchandising experience within an optical or retail environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to maximise sales opportunities.
- Excellent dispensing knowledge and customer consultation skills.
- Demonstrable experience leading, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to contribute strategically at a director level.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Lab experience including glazing, repairs, and adjustments.
- Experience working within an independent optical practice environment.
