Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator / Estimating Assistant to support our estimating team in delivering accurate and competitive project bids. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the construction or engineering sectors. The successful candidate will assist in preparing cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and supporting cost control initiatives to ensure project profitability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Assist senior estimators in preparing detailed cost estimates for upcoming projects.
Gather and analyse data related to labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Support the review of project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to ensure accuracy.
Contribute to the development of cost control strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain organised records of estimates, supplier quotations, and relevant documentation.
Collaborate with procurement teams to obtain competitive pricing and lead times.
Support the preparation of bid proposals and tender submissions within deadlines.
Keep abreast of market trends, labour rates, and material costs to inform accurate estimations.

Skills

Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail.
Good numerical ability and analytical skills for evaluating costs effectively.
Familiarity with construction or engineering estimating processes is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Knowledge of cost control principles to help optimise project budgets.
Proficient in using estimating software or spreadsheets; willingness to learn new tools as required.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This role provides valuable experience for those looking to build a career in estimating or project management within the construction industry, offering opportunities for professional development and growth within a supportive team environment.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
