Handy Person Help at Home Operative (Temporary Absence Cover)
Salary: £25,485.72 per annum
Hours: up to 37 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 8.30-4.30 and Fri 8.30-4pm), however part-time hours will be considered
Contract Type: Temporary absence cover on a rolling monthly basis
Travel expenses: 45p/mile

Based: Working throughout South Derbyshire area (and occasionally surrounding areas)

The Role
To provide a range of handy person services to vulnerable and/or disabled resident across South Derbyshire district. The aim is to enable people to continue to live independently in their home. The service will support people with adaptations and improvements to their home to keep them safe, able to live independently and to minimise hospital admissions.
The main duties of the role are:
- To assess tasks at identified properties
- To complete identified works which will include installing grab rails and other aids, installing key safes, minor home repairs, helping to minimise risk of falls through fixing carpets, changing light bulbs etc
- To ensure the work produced meets appropriate Health & Safety/Quality requirements following Construction and Design Management guidelines
- To plan and organise tasks effectively and keep records
- To respect the confidentiality of the service users that you work with and keep records in accordance with Data Protection and GDPR rules.
- To communicate appropriate information to the Service Coordinator / Direct services Manager
- To contribute to the ordering of equipment
- To represent CVS at promotional events
To support the above work the post holder will be expected to:
- Monitor their work and keep accurate records
- Attend CVS staff and team meetings, staff training and organisational development days
- Liaise with staff in partner agencies
- Be responsible for their own health and safety and the health and safety of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work
- Comply with CVS policies and procedures;
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as agreed with their Line Manager.

Qualifications
- Full clean current driving licence (essential)
- Approved Assessor Training or willingness to complete (desirable)
- Appropriate qualification in associated trade or demonstrable experience of service provision (desirable)
Experience
- Experience of home improvement/maintenance
- Experience of working with the public in their own homes
- Experience of working with older / vulnerable individuals
- Experience of working with voluntary organisations
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and reporting of concerns
- Awareness of Home Security measures
- Knowledge of South Derbyshire area
- Understanding of equality and diversity and confidentiality
Other Requirements
- Hold a full UK driving license, have access to own vehicle and have suitable insurance cover for using vehicle for work purposes
- Flexible approach to working pattern
