We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Head of Technical & Design to lead the technical and design function within a growing Keywall façade business. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from design development and engineering coordination through to manufacturing, logistics, installation, and project delivery for our Keywall product range.
This is a senior leadership role requiring extensive experience in high-rise façade systems, brick-slip wall cladding, mega panel solutions, and multi-storey construction projects. The role will also involve building and developing a high-performing technical team as the business continues to expand.
Technical Leadership

Lead all technical and design activities across façade, cladding, and panelised construction projects.

Provide expert guidance on façade engineering, structural design principles, and regulatory compliance.

Oversee the development and review of technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.

Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture, transportation, installation, and long-term performance.

Manage technical risk and resolve complex design and engineering challenges.
Engineering & Design Management

Review and approve designs relating to:

Structural loading requirements

Wind loading calculations
-
Bolt connections and fixing systems
-
Bracket details and support structures
-
“Helping hand” support systems
-
Waterproofing and weatherproofing details

Thermal performance and insulation requirements

Fire performance and compartmentation requirements

Ensure all designs comply with current building regulations, façade standards, and certification requirements.

Coordinate design integration with architects, structural engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients.
Project & Programme Delivery

Support project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Develop a thorough understanding of project build programmes, including sequencing by elevation and phased installation requirements.

Contribute to estimating, tender reviews, commercial assessments, and project planning activities.

Ensure technical deliverables are aligned with manufacturing schedules, site installation programmes, and client requirements.

Support lifting strategy development, transport planning, and logistics coordination for large façade and panelised systems.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the construction, façade, cladding, or structural engineering sectors.

Proven experience delivering high-rise and multi-storey construction projects.

Strong background in façade systems, brick-slip cladding, panelised construction, or related building envelope solutions.

Experience with construction site operations and structural erection methodologies.

Demonstrated line management and team leadership experience.

Strong understanding of programme delivery, estimating, project execution, and commercial considerations.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Building Engineering, or a related discipline.

Chartered status (or working towards) would be advantageous.
