Full job description

We are looking to recruit a Yard Operative to work at our Bury yard in Bury St Edmunds (IP29 4SZ). This is a part time position; the hours of work can be adapted to the ideal candidate and is open to discussion. The yard is generally open Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Assist workers with loading/unloading Company vehicles with equipment and materials at the beginning/end of the working day
Repair and maintain machinery, e.g. repair/replace ride on tractor/trailer tyres, sharpen flail/mower blades
Welding/fabricating of minor repairs to machinery (larger repairs are sent to agricultural engineers off site)
Machine servicing, e.g. oil/spark plug change, cleaning carburetor/air filters, bearing/belt replacements
Trailer servicing, e.g. leaf spring replacement, wheel nut check
Minor Company vehicle repairs, e.g. light bulb replacements
Clean Company vehicles
Source and order parts
Maintain yard cleanliness and organisation, e.g. empty bins, move pallets/materials. Use of a telehandler will be required
Water stock plants when necessary
Conduct regular inspections of the equipment and yard to identify any maintenance or safety issues
Travel offsite in a Company vehicle to help fix machine/trailer break downs or to collect parts

Requirements:

Full clean driving licence
Mechanical knowledge
Ability to work independently

Starting from £12.71 per hour depending on experience. Salary will be discussed upon interview.
