Experienced Caribbean Jerk Chef Overview

We are looking for an experienced Caribbean Jerk Chef to join our Caribbean takeaway in Croydon. The successful candidate will be responsible for cooking authentic Caribbean jerk dishes while maintaining high food quality, consistency, and hygiene standards.

Duties

Cook jerk chicken, jerk pork, jerk mutton, and jerk fish
Chop and prepare meat for service
Prepare food according to customer orders or supervisor instructions, following approved procedures
Maintain food hygiene and food safety standards
Keep work areas clean, organised, and stocked
Store food correctly in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils between storage and work areas
Inform supervisors when supplies are running low or if equipment is not working properly
Assist with general kitchen duties
Help serve customers when required
Work efficiently during busy periods

Requirements

Previous experience cooking Caribbean food
Experience cooking jerk chicken, jerk pork, jerk mutton, and jerk fish
Experience cooking on a jerk pan
Reliable and punctual
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety
Friendly and able to work as part of a team

Shift Times

Shifts are typically:

10:00am – 5:00pm
12:00pm – 5:00pm
5:00pm – 10:00pm

Additional hours may be available depending on business needs.

Interview Process

As part of the interview process, shortlisted applicants will be asked to demonstrate their experience cooking on a jerk pan and preparing authentic Caribbean jerk dishes.

Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour
