About Us
We are a specialist Clinical Negligence team based in our Aylsham office, forming part of a large and well-established City law firm with offices in London and legal teams across the UK.
Our team acts exclusively for patients and families who have suffered serious injuries as a result of medical negligence. We deal with a broad range of cases, including complex and high-value claims involving catastrophic injuries, birth injuries, delayed diagnosis of cancer, surgical negligence, and fatal claims.
This is not an opportunity to make tea, photocopy documents or simply observe from the sidelines. From the outset, you will become an integral part of our team and will be given meaningful responsibility and exposure to real legal work.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Legal Apprentice, with training commencing in September 2026 and an immediate start available beforehand.
This apprenticeship provides a structured pathway to becoming a qualified legal professional through the CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) route, allowing you to earn while you learn.
Unlike the traditional university route, you will gain practical experience while receiving professional training, meaning you can qualify without incurring the significant student debt often associated with legal education.
Your Career Pathway
Your training will be divided into two stages:
Stage One – Qualifying Paralegal Apprenticeship
Over approximately two years, you will undertake your apprenticeship training while working within our Clinical Negligence team. On successful completion, you will qualify as a Paralegal.
Stage Two – Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship
You will then progress to the advanced stage of training through CILEX Law School, leading to qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer.
Chartered Legal Executives are fully qualified lawyers and independent legal practitioners, recognised and regulated in their own right. They can specialise in specific areas of law, conduct litigation, and enjoy career opportunities equivalent to other legal professionals.
At the end of the programme, you will have achieved a professional legal qualification whilst gaining years of practical legal experience and earning throughout your training.
What You Will Do
Working directly with a senior member of our specialist Clinical Negligence team, you will:
- Assist with complex clinical negligence litigation.
- Work on cases ranging from modest claims to multi-million-pound catastrophic injury cases.
- Review and analyse medical records.
- Draft legal documents and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, barristers, medical experts and courts.
- Conduct legal research.
- Assist with case preparation and litigation strategy.
- Develop the practical skills required to become a specialist lawyer.
This is a demanding role that offers exceptional exposure to high-quality legal work from an early stage.
